The article offers an overview of several specialized dictionaries authored by Prof. Boris Parashkevov over the past decade, some of them developing new genres in lexicography. This is done from the point of view of a typology of dictionaries. Central in most of the publications discussed is the etymological approach and they often surprise the reader with unsuspected connections between words. Special attention is given to B. Parashkevov’s views on etymology and his contributions to lexicology and lexicography.
