Tracing a Slavic Loanword in Greek

The aim of this article is to discuss the semantic variations of a Slavic loanword ‘ovoros’ in the Modern Greek dialects. The lexeme belongs to the common Balkan lexicon, it is used in many dialects of Modern Greek in a wide geographical area, and also in Romanian, Albanian and Aromanian. The main focus of the article is on the areal distribution of the various formal and semantic variants of the lexeme.
