Bulgarian Word edin as Translation Problem

The article is devoted to the grammatical aspect of translation and it consists of two parts. The first part is an attempt to understand how the token “a” functions in Bulgarian: what meaning it has and what are the grounds for to be considered as an indefinite article. The second part is dedicated to the problem of the transmission of the grammatical meaning of a language by means of the other language. Based on scientific literature on translation theory and examples from translations of works of art from Bulgarian into Russian, we compiled a few rules to translate structures with the token “one” in Russian.

Key words: indefinite article, translation theory, equivalence, rules for translation.
