Metalanguage and punctuation in the composition of the predication

The article presents a cognitive analysis of the variability of the punctuation mark at the end of the sentence as one of the graphic explanations of the metalanguage. This methodological approach considers the role of the comma as a punctuation mark, which has a relevant role for an address or a subjunctive in the same positioning of the token in the sentence. Metalanguage is the phenomenon that derives an explication from the composition of a sentence and arranges it as a parallel syntax – inserted or joined parts, for example.

Key words: metalanguage; cognitive mode.
