Abstract. This article is devoted to the actualization of phraseologisms with a color component in contemporary Bulgarian public speech. The object of the study are stable word combinations containing color elements, which traditionally stand out for their high expressiveness and imagery. The mechanisms of their actualization are analyzed – substitution, structural modification, and contamination – through which phraseologisms adapt to new social and communicative contexts.
